Mindy Shapero is showing new sculptural works as well as large-scale works on paper at the Anna Helwing Gallery. In a departure from her previous more narrative-driven work, Shapero has been investigating with new materials and techniques helping to transform her abstract ideas into literal forms. She invites us to view her works as sculptures of both steadfastness and delicate movement. These undulating organic forms provide patterns that exist and connect as concrete objects, but simultaneously vibrate, morph, and fall apart in front of our eyes. These new pieces dig deeper and draw connections from Modernism, Pop Art and anthropological artifacts.
